Since inception two years ago, the programme has seen the 36 winners awarded various awards and 12 of them have gone on to win international accolades across the globe. The mentorship and career building has seen over 400 young women in business and in careers undergo mentorship.
Another milestone is the launch of The Women in Energy Awards and Conference Uganda in Kampala on March 22nd 2019 as a key celebration of International Women’s day on the same date. This will be our fourth series in East Africa after holding the same for the last three years in Kenya with a clear vision of having this noble movement across the East Africa Community in the next two years. The conference will bring together players in the Ministries of Energy, Banks, UN bodies, policymakers, students, influencers, consultants, development partners, regulators, and others with an interest in energy. The conference will seek to To facilitate the development of an authentic community of women who are putting the best foot forward and going above their call of duty to influence the landscape of the energy sector in Africa.’
The development of renewable energy, energy efficiency programs, Oil and Gas mining, and exploration is a key enabler in creating numerous jobs and business opportunities throughout the African continent. Women have a large role to play in the development of sustainable projects that add to economic development.
